At least 100 campesino families are in possession of 400 manzanas of land in the community of Laureles for more than six months, but since month ago are being threatened to be evicted by Mr. Morales who claims to be the alleged owner of the land .

We condemn the government's indifference to the situation faced by these 100 families in the field including women, young and old living under huts made of nylon and cardboard in a? struggle for a piece of land.

The companeros went to the premises of the National Agrarian Institute (INA), looking for help to solve this problem, but all I got were warnings that they would be evicted by the police and the military at any time.

According to statements by the campesinos of that community, Morales was detained a month and a half ago with four gunmen in possession of 25 weapons including M-16, R-15, grenades among others in the community in

Gualazara in the department of La Paz, but hours later he was released through the influence they have on the country's authorities.

Clearly, the growing land problem is exacerbated because the Honduran peasants have no access to land, as large tracts of land are concentrated in few hands.

We hold all three branches of government responsible for the problems that the campesinos now have to live with, by not adopting a policy based on the proposed Propuesta de Agraria Integral (TAI), which was submitted to Congress on October 11, 2011 by the campesino organizations.

We appeal to human rights organizations and international national to remain on alert for any wave of repression against peasants in that community.
